What is Homoeopathy and How does it cure?

Homoeopathy is a system of treating diseases by medicines producing similar symptoms to that of the disease. Word Meaning: ‘Homoeos’ means Similar and ‘pathos’ means suffering or disease. It is a system of medical treatment promulgated by Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, a German Physician. The Principle of Homoeopathy is “Similia Similibus Curantur” which means Like Cures Like. Good health is not simply the absence of disease but complete physical and emotional well being. In Homoeopathy, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, coping well with stress and adopting a strong emotional outlook all play an important part in the prevention of illness.

Are homoeopathic medicines safe ?

Homoeopathic Medicines are extremely safe because they are repeatedly diluted. If a child were to swallow a bottle of pills, he or she might suffer transient diarrhoea from the lactose but no long term effects.Homoeopathic Medicines are safe to be taken by elderly and lactating mothers and even by the pregnant women but under prescribed course of medical treatment. Homoeopathic Medicines can be safely given to babies and children but in proper dosage whose information is known to the physician. Do not undertake self treatment with Homoeopathic Medicines while you are undergoing a prescribed course of any other medical treatment. Do not try self diagnosis or allow self treatment without consulting a medical professional.Do not exceed the recommended amount of dosage. Homoeopathic Medicines must be used in accordance with all State and National Regulations. If in doubt, consult your physician.

How to take these Homoeopathic Medicines?

Do not touch or handle the medicine to avoid contamination. Use a clean dry teaspoon or the vial cap to drop them onto a clean tongue. Do not take the medicine with food or drink. Take them atleast 30 minutes before or after eating. Avoid the following, which may antidote the medicine: Coffee, Alcohol, Tobacco, Spicy foods, Raw Onion and anything with a minty flavour. Do not wear strong perfumes or use strong smelling household cleaners when taking the medicines. If the symptoms worsen (or there is aggravation) which is commonly of a short period, it may be a sign that a medicine has started its job but any of such condition must be reported to the physician immediately.
